Memorial of Toumpas Lefkandi

 

Oblong vaulted structure 47 x 10 meters with an outdoor wooden colonnade dating to the first half of the 10th century BC Inside were two burials hegemonic nature, man and woman and horse burials, accompanied by rich grave goods, some of them listed. Interpreted as a house-ruler local ruler, who after his death turned into a memorial and was covered by plaque.   Excavated and partially restored by the British School of Archaeology in the 1980's. The findings are exhibited at the Museum Eretreias.
