Platanistos
The Platanistos is a semi-mountainous village with 262 inhabitants and is located 22km east of Karystos. It comprises the settlements Mourtias Mastrogiannai'i'ka, Panochori and Pidoule'i'ika. It is the southernmost and nearest village of Cavo Doro and has evolved into a modern town (there is even a regional office) but respecting traditions. Traversed by a stream in a second water supply throughout the Ochi. The stream has sources in the small canyon Panochoriou, an idyllic forest surroundings. After about seven km course through a verdant valley, the stream leads to the beach River. The name of Platanistos is not random. Plane trees grow along the entire stream in combination with willows, osiers and alders, create a riparian forest, an oasis in the dry island landscape. Attractions is the river with the rich vegetation of trees (where the name), the stone bridge, the area anemopyles etc. Source: Wikipedia
